Spectra Literature — Grade 4
intermediateThis course will study King Arthur and the age of chivalry, presenting legend as different from myth. Students will compare voyages by reading Gulliver in Lilliput, a made up voyage, beside the Rihla of Ibn Battuta, a real fourteenth century traveller who reached Mali. The study will also cover American tales, poems, and speeches including Rip Van Winkle, Paul Revere's Ride, Patrick Henry, and Sojourner Truth, along with The Poet's Line to learn stanza, line, rhyme scheme, meter, and poems learned by heart.
